Bungalow Bridge 2022 BambooDNA
The Bungalow Bridge, designed by Gerard Minakawa of Bamboo DNA, was created to be a luxurious viewing deck and standing area for Lost Lands Festival in Thorneville, Ohio. I worked closely with the designer, who had contracted me to create the 3d layout drawings to be used for the engineering review. During the construction phase, I played a lead roll and ensured some of the more precise carpentry and joinery details were executed properly.
The Bungalow Bridge is a permanent structure currently installed on the land that hosts the festival in Ohio. The design required approval from an engineering firm before construction could take place. I was contracted to create the layout drawings to be sent to the engineer for review. During this process I created the 3d model and fleshed out the structural details. I produced a build package of architectural drawings that was then stamped and officiated by the engineer.

Led Wall Facade Dreamstate 2019 Lunosol Productions
I was contracted by Lunosol Productions to layout, fabricate, and install this large scale led wall façade for the Dreamstate event in San Bernadino, CA. In this project, I received design drawings from an in house designer on the event’s production team. I used these drawings to create “to scale” fabrication drawings in autocad that myself and crew used to project and trace onto the ply wood we used to fabricate the piece. We then engineered the mounting system used to install the piece on steel trussing to be fitted to the led wall.

Templo Armonia 2019 BambooDNA
This fast and intense build journey was embarked on with the Bamboo DNA crew for Envision 2019. The design for this yoga structure incorporated a significant amount of hand carved joinery and unique structural elements, including a beautifully curved roofline. The roll I played in this build was that of a veteran builder. This was an intensive and involved build executed in the hot Costa Rican sun. The overall design and the finished piece is very pleasing and continues to be used for yoga retreats and workshops consistently to this day.

Fyre Festival 2017
In 2017 I was hired to work a festival that had some infrastructure issues. It was a friend of mine who had invested in Fyre media who took me on a team he assembled himself to try to save his investment. The idea was to create festival art and infrastructure for an event that was lacking in this area. Every day for three weeks I created driftwood sculptures, pallet wood tiki bars, vendor booths, signage, and swing sets off the shoreline of the beach. The pentagon swing set has been featured in a variety of media surrounding the Fyre Festival as well as various travel magazines about Great Exuma. It was in icon for Instagram influencers. Despite the massive public catastrophe that event ended up becoming, working at Fyre was actually a catalyst experience for me in my career making art for the event industry.

Boom Festival 2018
In 2018 I flew out to Idanha-Nova, Portugal to spend two and a half months as part of build team for the Alchemy Circle Village at Boom Festival. I was one of two hired carpenters working alongside a team of volunteers. During this time we designed and built a variety of creative infrastructure for the village including furniture, garden sculptures, decking, planters, bike racks, and anything else that needed to be fabricated. We also built the MOVA(museum of visionary art) Gallery and equipped it with gallery walls, bleacher seating, and a deck for live painters. Android Jones had brought his “Micro dose VR” installation to the MOVA Gallery, and our team was tasked with fabricating the wooden dodecahedron forms that people would step inside to have the virtual reality experience.

Village Stage Envision 2020 Selva Bairavi
As build lead for the village stage at Envision 2020 I worked directly with Selva Bairavi, the artist who designed and managed the stage build. The various elements of her design incorporated two facets. The first was the fabricated wood, bamboo, and driftwood elements which I was tasked to fabricate and install. The second was comprised of the beautiful weaved elements that were created by a team of macramé weavers led by Selva. The prominent feature of the stage was the mandala backdrop, which included the weavings of the artist and her team. I created a layout drawing for the mandala and used that to project the pattern onto the backwall to create a template for the installation of the panels that comprised it. This project presented daily creative problem solving challenges. My skills were regularly put to the test and there was much creative growth as a result of it.
