Kukulkan Bass Stage
Cosmic Convergence Festival 2019

The Kukulkan bass stage for Cosmic Convergence 2019 was a design collaboration between Gravity Garden and Italian artist Selva Bairavi. The dragonhead stage payed homage to the Mayan godhead Kukulkan. The form and deco elements illustrated the intersection between the Gravity Garden artistic approach and Selva’s. Integrating the weaved fiber art and design concepts that is quintessential to her practice with our structural and sculptural sensibilities presented many design opportunities that yielded surprising and interesting results. We managed a small crew to execute the build while Selva managed a team of weaving artists. Together the process unfolded seamlessly between the two teams. Many talented individuals played a part in this dynamic stage coming into existence in the unique fashion that it did.
