The Camp EDC Stage and shade structure is a behemoth shaded oasis for mostly day time programing in the hot desert sun of Las Vegas. Working directly with Insomniac on the production level, we designed, fabricated, and erected this half acre shade structure with a unique custom bamboo stage nested inside of it. The design was intensive and highly engineered. There were many moving parts within the process. Two massive prefabrication processes took place simultaneously in two separate locations to prepare all fabric shade sails, structural elements, and rigging to be shipped out to Las Vegas to be assembled on site at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The Gravity Garden team harvested the temperate bamboo species and prefabricated the bandshell along with the 8x8 pine timbers and the multitude of custom steel brackets at our home space in the mountains of Western North Carolina. This project was a huge logistical feat and was highly exemplary of the degree of capability of Gravity Garden and the efficacy of our process.
